Film Rehabilitates Spitzer, Damns His Enemies

It seems that the political Left’s criminalization of business will be debated this autumn via movies. And given the cultural Left’s dominance of the film industry, that is not encouraging.

I have mentioned earlier the hard-hitting “exposé” about the financial crisis: “ Inside Job .” And I have mentioned the apparently pathetic right-wing alternative “ I Want Your Money .” Now I hear that a film is due out on November 1st dealing with the rise and fall of Eliot Spitzer: “ Client 9 .”

That has to be good news, right? In Spitzer, we had an anti-capitalist politician whose shameless power-seeking out-LBJ’ed LBJ; whose thuggish violations of the rule of law out-Nixon’ed Nixon; and whose personal vileness out Clinton’ed Clinton. Surely, this movie is going to be a trifecta for the capitalist side.

Well, no. The story of “Client 9,” it seems, is of brilliant, noble, introspective hero (though one with human flaws) who was brought low by the vile plutocrats of Wall Street.

One must give the Left this: They retrieve their wounded .
